On Sunday, October 4th 2020 at 11:30 am, we will resume our monthly Morning Prayer services. On March 15th we had to cancel the Morning Prayer due to the corona virus outbreak, and since then we have had only online Morning Prayers (mostly in Dutch) on kerkomroep.nl in the months of May and June. Our weekly Dutch-language services (Martinidiensten) have been restarted in September 2020, and so will the English-language Morning Prayers, which will be on the first Sunday of each month from now on (with a few exceptions reserved).

Not everything will be like it used to be normally. Due to the strict measures taken to reduce the spread of the corona virus the service will be held in the ‘high choir’ of the Martini church, not in the central part of the church (the ‘nave’). The entrance to the church is opposite ’t Feithhuis. Please note that the information published in Kerk in Stad, that the service would be held in the nave, is outdated! There will also be no singing together by the congregation; we will restrict to listening to the psalms, hymns and anthems etc. sung by the Dutch Choral Singers, directed by Henk de Vries, the organ music played by Vincent Hensen-Oosterdijk (not Eeuwe Zijlstra as mentioned in the order of service) and the words spoken by the officiant Revd. Arlette Toornstra. Bible readings are from the book of Jonah and from the Gospel of Matthew.

There will be limited seating available. If you want to attend the service, it is necessary to register beforehand (no later than Saturday at noon) via this registration form. Collection: even if you can’t attend the service, it is still possible to contribute financially. Please pay any amount you wish to donate to account number (IBAN) NL27 RABO 0136784798, account holder’s name: Stichting GSp, either with payment description ‘Continuation of Martinidiensten/Morning Prayers’, or with payment description ‘Charitable work: Hospital in Malawi’. If you wish to donate to both purposes, please make two separate payments, each one with its own payment description.

Op zondag 4 oktober om 11:30 uur hervatten we onze maandelijkse Morning Prayers. De Morning Prayer van 15 maart moest worden geannuleerd vanwege de uitbraak van het coronavirus, en sindsdien hebben we alleen nog enkele online Morning Prayers via kerkomroep.nl kunnen houden (in mei en juni, deels Engels- en deels Nederlandstalig). De wekelijkse Nederlandstalige Martinidiensten zijn op 6 september weer van start gegaan, en vanaf 4 oktober vieren we in principe op de eerste zondag van de maand een Engelstalige Morning Prayer (uitzonderingen voorbehouden).

Nog niet alles zal weer helemaal zijn zoals vanouds. Zo zal vanwege de aangescherpte coronamaatregelen de viering worden gehouden in het hoogkoor van de kerk, in plaats van in het schip. De ingang is tegenover het Feithhuis. Let op: in Kerk in Stad staat nog vermeld dat de viering in het schip zou plaatsvinden, maar die informatie is achterhaald! Verder laten we ook de gezamenlijke gemeentezang nog achterwege, maar luisteren we vooral naar de liederen gezongen door de Dutch Choral Singers onder leiding van Henk de Vries, met daarbij de orgelmuziek gespeeld door Vincent Hensen-Oosterdijk (in plaats van Eeuwe Zijlstra zoals vermeld in de liturgie), en naar de woorden gesproken door voorganger Arlette Toornstra. De Bijbellezingen zijn uit het boek Jona en uit het evangelie van Mattheüs.

Vanwege het beperkte aantal zitplaatsen is het van essentieel belang om je vooraf aan te melden, uiterlijk zaterdagmiddag om 12:00 uur, via het registratieformulier. De link staat ook onderaan op de pagina met corona-huisregels – lees die eerst!

Stichting GSp, onder vermelding van “instandhouding Martinidiensten“. Of op hetzelfde rekeningnummer, onder vermelding van “diaconale collecte: Ziekenhuis in Malawi“.
