For the first time in almost a year, the Morning Prayer on Sunday, November 7th at 11:30 a.m. will be a service which is held entirely in the English language. In recent times, corona restrictions have made it necessary to organise our Morning Prayers in a limited setting, with parts of the liturgy (Bible readings and sermon) in Dutch and other parts (hymns and anthems) in English, and allowing fewer visitors to attend. We are glad to be able to welcome you all again to this Choral Morning Prayer in the Anglican tradition, in the way it is meant to be, in the Martini Church in Groningen.

The service is ministered by Revd. Arlette Toornstra. The organ will be played by Eeuwe Zijlstra. The Dutch Choral Singers will participate in this service, directed by Henk de Vries. The theme of this service is taken from the Gospel of John, where a man who was born blind is healed by Jesus and – after bathing in the pool of Siloam – can see the light in his eyes as never before.

Collection: even if you can’t attend the service, perhaps if you are listening to our audio registration online afterwards, it is still possible to contribute financially. Nadat we in de afgelopen periode, vanwege de beperkingen door corona, genoodzaakt waren onze Morning Prayers in een wat beperktere vorm te organiseren (deels in het Engels en deels in het Nederlands, met kleinere aantallen bezoekers), doet het ons deugd om op zondag 7 november 2021 om 11:30 uur u allen weer te verwelkomen in een volledig Engelstalige Choral Morning Prayer in de Anglicaanse traditie, helemaal zoals deze bedoeld is, in de Martinikerk in Groningen.

Voorganger is Arlette Toornstra. Met medewerking van de Dutch Choral Singers onder leiding van Henk de Vries, waarbij het orgel wordt bespeeld door Eeuwe Zijlstra. Het thema sluit aan bij het Evangelieverhaal uit Johannes, over de genezing van een blindgeboren man. Nadat Jezus de man heeft geïnstrueerd zich te wassen in het badhuis van Siloam, ziet de man het licht in zijn ogen als nooit tevoren.

We vragen bezoekers van deze dienst zich uiterlijk zaterdagmiddag om 12:00 uur aan te melden via het registratieformulier. De link staat ook onderaan op de pagina met corona-huisregels.

Collecte: Iedereen kan bijdragen aan de collecte door een bedrag over te maken op rekeningnummer NL27 RABO 0136784798 t.n.v. Stichting GSp, onder vermelding van “instandhouding Martinidiensten”. Of op hetzelfde rekeningnummer, onder vermelding van “diaconale collecte: Humanitas maatjesproject”. Wil je aan beide collectes bijdragen, doe dat dan bij voorkeur met twee aparte overboekingen, elk met de juiste betalingsomschrijving. Aanwezigen in de kerk hebben de mogelijkheid contant bij te dragen aan de collecte, maar als je liever per bankoverschrijving bijdraagt dan kan dat uiteraard ook. Bedankt voor je gift! ► Voor wie de viering niet in de kerk heeft kunnen bijwonen komt na afloop een geluidsregistratie beschikbaar, deze wordt in de loop van zondagmiddag door Bert geplaatst op Dropbox en kan dan nog tot enkele weken na de viering worden teruggeluisterd.
