In Advent time, we prepare for the celebration of Christmas. On the second Sunday of this four-week period of Advent, we traditionally read about John the Baptist, who calls for repentance and who refers to himself using the words of the prophet Isaiah: “I am the voice of one crying out in the wilderness: make straight the way of the Lord”.

We invite you to attend the Morning Prayer service on Sunday December 4th, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. in the Martini Church in Groningen. The service is ministered by Jaap Goorhuis. The choir participating in this service will be the Dutch Choral Singers, directed by Henk de Vries. The organ will be played by Eeuwe Zijlstra. Language: alternately English and Dutch. This will be the last Morning Prayer service of the year 2022. Due to circumstances, we will not be able to continue our Morning Prayer services in the new year 2023.

Advent is de tijd waarin we ons voorbereiden op de viering van Kerst. Traditioneel wordt op de tweede van de vier Adventszondagen gelezen over Johannes de Doper, die oproept tot bekering en die over zichzelf spreekt met de woorden ontleend aan de profeet Jesaja: “Ik ben de stem die roept in de wildernis: maak recht de weg van de Heer”.

Graag nodigen we je uit om de Morning Prayer op zondag 4 december 2022 bij te wonen in de Martinikerk te Groningen, aanvang 11:30 uur. Voorganger in deze viering is Jaap Goorhuis. Met medewerking van de Dutch Choral Singers onder leiding van Henk de Vries. Het orgel wordt bespeeld door Eeuwe Zijlstra. De viering is afwisselend in het Engels en het Nederlands. Het zal de laatste Morning Prayer van het jaar 2022 zijn, en door omstandigheden kunnen we in het nieuwe jaar 2023 de Morning Prayers vooralsnog niet voortzetten.
